Healing has been my life-long passion and led me to become a psychotherapist. After obtaining a Masters in Somatic Psychology, I went on to study other modalities such as Voice Movement Therapy and Core Energetics.
After living and working in South Africa and seeing first-hand the many layers of trauma many experienced in their daily lives, I began to focus on the alleviation of symptoms associated with trauma and chronic stress. First I became a certified EMDR therapist and helped bring trainers to Kenya where I lived for 8 years. Subsequently, I became certified in the Global Mental Health Program focusing on Refugee Trauma given by Harvard Medical School’s Department of Global and Continuing Education.
Training has also been a consistent part of my professional life. Over the decades, I have developed training materials for youth mentoring programs, facilitated workshops for parents in extremely challenging situations such as high conflict divorce and teens whose behavior has become out of control.
Later in my career, I was certified as a trainer of trainers by the UN Institute for Training and Research and facilitated workshops for military personnel, diplomats and government staff in various countries. While working for UNITAR, I also had the opportunity to create online courses and webinars.
I am a certified supervisor and EMDRIA Approved Consultant and have the privilege of supporting clinicians throughout the world as they evolve in their professional lives.
Growing up in Brazil as a third-culture person, and having lived in Africa and Europe for over 14 years, I have a rich understanding of the complexities around identity; ethnicity, nationality, gender, class and race. I have the honor of working with clients from many countries and diverse backgrounds, and can provide therapy in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
